Fly fishing has always been my passion, from the first time holding a fly rod I was hooked! Being taught from a young age has given me extensive experience on a variety of rivers and stillwaters throughout North Yorkshire and County Durham. Growing up on the banks of the River Tees has also given me the knowledge and understanding of the environment in which the sport takes place, and the necessary respect needed to look after our delicate surroundings.
The thrill of the chase and being a true hunter gives me a real buzz. The marksmanship of the fly cast and the exhilarating feeling of catching wild fish is something I want everyone to experience firsthand.
I have spent many years working towards becoming a good coach and also trying to modernise fly fishing. I have enjoyed spending countless hours with well known fly fishing instructors, studying everything from modern and traditional casting techniques to water craft, entomology to fly tying. The result of all my work came when I achieved an L2CCA qualification in game angling, making it possible for me to pass on my knowledge and true enthusiasm for the sport.
But learning doesn't stop there, fly fishing is ever changing and evolving with new styles, trends and techniques, and because of that I will keep on training!
With my L2CCA qualifications comes all the necessary coverage to teach everyone. I possess first aid training, I am CRB checked and I hold a certificate in child protection. Clients of all ages can rest assured they are in a safe and secure environment when taking part in lessons.
