Fly Fishing Yorkshire

Welcome to Fly Fishing Yorkshire

Fly Fishing Tuition Image Fly Fishing Yorkshire's main aim is to provide high quality fly fishing lessons, guided days and corporate fly fishing activities to individuals and groups of all ages and abilities.
I offer fly casting/fishing lessons around many of Yorkshire's rivers and lakes. By taking part in fishing lessons with me, you will learn everything from fly casting, fishing techniques and fishing knots, to landing your fish. Clients go away feeling confident to fly fish on their own in a short space of time. I offer fishing lessons in single or double handed (Spey) techniques. All my lessons, guided and corporate days, take place in amazing locations around Yorkshire and into County Durham, some of which are exclusive to Fly Fishing Yorkshire, all of which are complemented by much of Yorkshire's finest wildlife.

My Fly Fishing Background

Fly fishing has always been my passion; from the first time holding a fly rod I was hooked! Being taught from a very young age has given me extensive fly fishing experience on a variety of rivers and stillwaters throughout Yorkshire and County Durham. Growing up on the banks of the River Tees has also given me the fly fishing knowledge and understanding of the environment in which the sport takes place, and the necessary respect needed to look after our delicate surroundings.
I have spent many years working towards becoming a good instructor and also trying to modernise fly fishing, by having a different approach to traditional casting techniques, water craft, and entomology to fly tying. The results of all my work came when I qualified as a Professional Game Angling Instructor (GAIA) and also became an accredited level 2 Sport England Coach, making it possible for me to pass on my knowledge and true enthusiasm for the sport. But I believe the most important qualification of all, is being able to make our time together great fun!

With my qualifications comes all the necessary coverage to teach everyone. I possess first aid training, I am DBS checked and I hold a certificate in child protection. Clients of all ages can rest assured they are in a safe and secure environment when taking part in fly fishing lessons.

"As a travel journalist I have travelled extensively both in the UK and around the world, and as part of my job have taken part in many different outdoor activities. I can honestly say that the lesson my 12 year old son and myself enjoyed with Olly in the spring was one of the most enjoyable and useful experiences I have had whilst researching travel articles. Olly has huge enthusiasm for his craft, as well as a huge bank of knowledge which he passes on with real humour and flair. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being taught to fish by Olly, and are now both keen fly fishers."
