Night Time Sea Trout

Fishing for sea trout at night is one of the most fantastic times of day to fish and possibly for the ultimate fish species of the UK, and one of the best rivers and beats to do it on with us.

Some people seem nervous about fishing at night and this just shouldn't be the case. the wading is easy for first timers, and we don't fish past 1am. finally, more often than not you can see more than you think. Just let your eyes adjust.

If you can cast a sensible fly line with a small shoot, that's all that's needed. No long distance casting required.

How does an evening work?

We will meet prior to dusk, we will walk to the pools you are going to fish so you can see them. You will learn the art of where to fish and when, read the water, and crucially, understanding flies and how light effects them. We will start to fish at dusk as the light falls, then you will move into the main pools for the main event.

How big are the fish?

They are generally around 3/4lb as an average, but we catch fish into double figures every year. All fish are strictly returned.

Equipment?

Firstly we provide everything... rods, flies, waders, torches. Have your own equipment? fine, you just need a 9/10ft #7 rod and a floating line... but we'll provide the flies. Just dress warm and bring a hot drink.

What times do we fish?

As an average we start at 8pm and fish until around 12.30am. If you are experienced, and require a full nights guiding to the following morning, that's fine. Times may vary as the nights draw in closer.
